About Tocnik and Zebrak Castle
This tourist attraction is well worth a small detour in hills since these two castles, located so nearby, provide a picturesque and interesting contrast of styles and function. Of the two impressive fortresses, Žebrák is the elder dating from the later 13th century. But when Žebrák Castle burned down, in 1395, Wenceslas IV made decision to build a new royal chateau. Today Točník is a complex of the castle with uniquely preserved architectural elements, while the older castle remains in ruins, apart from its dominating Gothic tower.
