The Necropolis stretches on an area of more than two kilometers and represents a major center of Etruscan civilization. These monumental tombs, almost 400 of them, span a historic period from the 8th century to the 2nd century BC. The purpose of these edifices was clearly to illustrate the wealth of aristocratic families and many luxury goods were found in them, such as tableware made of precious metal, vases, as well as weapons, belts, and jewelry. Some tombs even feature frescoes depicting Etruscan daily life.
