Places you can visit along the way

Quality photo of Croatian Martyrs Church - Croatia

Croatian Martyrs Church
Croatia

60 min

During one of his visits to Croatia, Pope John Paul II blessed the stone that was to be used for the church’s future altar. Some... years later, the first service was held inside the church in 2010. It was raised to pay homage to the country’s exciting and sometimes so tragic history, most notably to the unfortunate Battle of Krbava against the Ottomans. This contemporary building offers a breath-taking view over the once fighting field and its stunning mountains. Above the entrance, there is a simple and yet so strong inscription: Martiribus croatorum – Hrvatskim mučenicima (To Croatian Martyrs). This church is truly incomparable in its features, and is sure to leave any visitor at awe.

Ethno Museum Ljubacke Doline
Bosnia and Herzegovina

105 min

The Ethno Village is rather small consisting of approximately 30 reconstructed rural buildings but these are all authentic and furnished with genuine household items and... rustic artifacts. It is an excellent collection of antiquities that take you back in time to the late 19th century and early 20th century. The central building is the market with an antique shop, a tavern, a tailor and a pharmacist.

Krupa Waterfall
Bosnia and Herzegovina

75 min

If you are up for some outstanding nature and peaceful environment do visit this little hidden gem. What will amaze you is not its size... or formation but the fact that it has remained intact over the centuries. Locals usually visit this place as a quiet picnic spot while for the foreign visitors it will be a great spot to appreciate the taste of traditional Bosnian life. The historical watermills on the crystal clear waters are still operational so you can buy freshly ground wheat or eat some trout at the trout farms just below.

Quality photo of Novigrad Fortress - Croatia

Novigrad Fortress
Croatia

75 min

The magnificent fortress of Novigrad stems from the ancient Illyrian times, with a Roman tower that stood there until the 13th century. The tower was... soon transformed into a glorious fortification. When the city fell into the hands of Venetians, the construction has developed in strength even further and was finally abandoned in 1797. Even though the fort is now not much but a ruin, it still offers a unique glimpse into the events that took place there. Given the fact it overlooks what is called the Croatia’s most authentic village, it surely is a sight to be seen.
