It is well worth to pass the narrow road leading to this massive fortress for its fascinating history and a stunning panorama from the top.... The origins of the fortress are unknown but it is assumed that it dates back to pre-Roman or Roman times. It has changed several owners during the course of centuries for which it has passed different transformations. During the second half of the 19th century the fortress became a criminal jail, which continued to be up until the beginning of the following century and during the two world wars it was a prisoner-of-war camp.
