Over the centuries, it... was renovated and expanded to imitate the romantic French castles with steep roofs, a chapel and peaked towers. One of the oldest attractions of the Bojnice castle is the “King Matthias Linden Tree” that is 700 years old and the most valuable item of national importance is the Late-Gothic altar. You can easily book a guided tour which is available in both English and Slovakian language. The castle grounds open to public and free of charge are castle’s majestic exterior, the gardens with the lovely stalls selling souvenirs and local products.

Visitors discover the castle history while touring through many rooms that feature armor, artwork and antiques of the period. But what sets this castle apart from many other medieval castles is the live performance by local actors dressed in period costumes that dance, sing and act in order to fully revive the atmosphere of the 17th century. There is a bit of an effort to get the most stunning views of the village below and the imposing Tatra Mountains as there are approximately 500 stairs to the top of the castle tower.
