On August 31, in 1939, the Germans staged a fake Polish attack on Gleiwitz radio station and this was later used as justification for invading Poland. It is today the only remaining wooden radio tower built before World War II and it features museum where visitors can learn all about radio history.

Once in a while, the German Emperor William II used to reside in this palace during the WWI and his “Royal apartments” are fully fitted with restored original furniture. In the lower level of the castle is a great collection of armory.
