Petrarca's House
Italy

75 min

Petrarca’s house is a perfect little gem of the charming Euganean Hills. Known as the “Father of the Renaissance”, this great Italian poet and philosopher... decided to spend last years of his life in this peaceful and quiet environment. His home is today a well maintained cultural site that houses an exhibition on his life, work and philosophy as well as the customs and traditions of that region. If you enjoy the medieval atmosphere, stroll down the streets of the romantic village of Arqua. This area is renowned for wine and olive oil production so indulge your taste buds in little shops selling olive oil, honey and wine.

Soave Castle
Italy

105 min

The Soave Castle is a beautiful, well preserved fortress that sits on Mount Tenda. It is s a typical medieval military artifact. It was built... in the 10th century and it consists of a drawbridge, a massive tower, and three walls forming three courts of different size. It is home to a small museum but the most inspiring feature of this castle is the Mastio, probably a former prison and a torture room. Inside the castle visitors can also admire the 14th century frescoes and medieval furniture and climb to the top of Soave Castle’s imposing tower for the amazing views of the hills and vineyards surrounding the castle.

Castello del Catajo
Italy

90 min

The Catajo Castle was built between 1570 and 1573 by the Obizzi family, who originated from France. Their intention was to build a palace that... would represent the glory of their family, mostly known as “soldiers of fortune”. No wonder the castle features a grand fresco of military victories and symbolic representations of government on the main floor. The palace itself is an opulent, peaceful and aristocratic home with a long boulevard that leads to the Giants Courtyard. The building is majestic, consisting of 350 rooms, and the most notable parts are the elephant fountain in front of the entrance, mighty staircases and a grand terrace, which is a sort of an open-air ballroom.

Montagnana
Italy

75 min

Montagnana is a beautiful medieval town in the province of Padua, surrounded by magnificent walls, one of the most beautiful and better preserved in Europe.... Walls have the shape of an irregular rectangle and four gates lead to the medieval center dotted with noteworthy buildings with arcades built in the 15-16th centuries. Montagnana is in fact a small jewel and it is really difficult to list one by one all its architectural beauties. But it is necessary to mention at least the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta built in late Gothic style with late-Renaissance additions, the two castles built in the 13th and 14th centuries, and among the civil buildings worth a mention is villa Pisani, located immediately outside the circle of walls.
