The walls of Stone were built in the 15th century and covered a total length of 7 kilometers, had 3 fortresses and 40 towers. This was the main defensive structures against Turkish attacks so the town was indeed impregnable from the side of the shore. Much of this can still be seen today, and the renovated part of the wall between Ston and Mali Ston can be walked in its entirety.
