Quality photo of Schloss Drachenburg Castle - Germany

Schloss Drachenburg Castle
Germany

105 min

It is hard to believe that this impressive castle was built in only 2 years, between 1882 and 1884. It was built by Baron Stephan... von Sarter who intended to use it as his summer residence but unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy it. After his death, the castle was used for different purposes - it was made into a Christian boy’s school, than an elite Nazi school and after the WWII as a railroad training center. Paul Spinat, an eccentric businessman, saved it from demolition by purchasing the estate in 1971. Now Schloss Drachenburg Castle is a Museum that reveals many interesting things about the castle’s past. Visitors can explore the historical noble rooms and permanent exhibitions within the palace. The castle features a lovely bistro and a shop with souvenirs, home decor pieces and books.

Geysir Andernach
Germany

Geyser Andernach is defined as the world’s highest cold geyser. Actually, once the water is erupted, due to the volcanic activity that releases carbon dioxide,... it reaches up to 60 m into the air. Quite an exciting spectacle and to think it happens approximately every ten minutes! The tour that is available on site includes a boat ride and a visit to a very interesting museum explaining the history of the geyser and how it works.

The Guttenberg Museum displays the first Gutenberg Bible as well as the world’s smallest Bible. Or you may simply enjoy a glass or two (or more) of the fantastic local wines served in the numerous bars and restaurants.

Johannisburg Castle
Germany

Architecture lovers will be stunned by the red sandstone chateau with impressive Renaissance architecture. But it certainly is not the only thing that makes this... castle the landmark of the city Aschaffenberg and one of its main tourist attractions. To begin with, it is located in the most amazing location, right on the banks of the River Main, than it features a great museum of both modern art and the old masters, and a quirky art collection of historic architectural buildings made from cork, and finally it also has a nice restaurant. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a glass of champagne in the striking castle ambiance? We certainly think it’s a good idea.

Quality photo of Loket Castle - Czech Republic

Loket Castle
Czech Republic

75 min

Most castles were built on hills, enabling the occupants to see invaders approaching and Loket Castle is no different. From the hilltop, it dominates the... town of Loket for more than 850 years and this abundant past can be observed in its museum, weaponry, armor and an eclectic collection of historic artifacts. If you have the courage for some rather ghastly equipment, explore the castle’s dungeons. If not, spend your visiting time in the impressive chapel and the castle’s ceremonial hall. All in all, this attraction has something to offer for everyone’s taste.
