The glacial lake Bled is often ranked among the top 10 most beautiful lakes in the world, and certainly one of the most divine tourist... attractions in Slovenia. Its emerald-green waters, the high peaks of the Julian Alps in the background, and the tiny island with the 17th century Baroque church and a small museum in the middle of the lake, look as if stolen from a fairy tale picture. The island can be reached in traditional wooden boats – pletnas, operated by standing rowers. The lake is warmed by mild thermal springs for which swimming is possible even in autumn. Walking trail around the lake is 6 kilometers long and can be completed in an hour but if you have time to spear, do visit the Bled Castle from where you will have the most beautiful view of the lake.
