Berchtesgaden – Eagles Nest
Germany

Berchtesgaden Eagles Nest is one of the most interesting remnants from WWII in Germany. It was Hitler’s mountain retreat, a present for his 50th birthday... given to him by the Nazi Party. This chalet stands high above the town, perched on a sheer rock and when weather permits the views of Berchtesgaden area, including the Konigssee and Salzburg surroundings, are incredible. This historic building is a reminder of one man’s crimes against humanity. The only way to access the Eagle’s Nest is via bus and don’t forget that it is open only in summer, from mid May to October, but please check their opening hours at: http://www.berchtesgaden.de/en/eagles-nest

Braunau am Inn is mostly renowned for two things: for the house where Hitler was born and for the Church of St. Stephan. Austrian authorities... have decided to transform Hitler’s birth house into a museum called “House of Responsibility”, dedicated to his crimes against humanity committed during the WWII. The Stadtpfarrkirche St. Stephan church is decorated in works of art that date back to the 15th century when the church was built. Of special significance is the amazing Gothic ceiling.
