The location of the Strecno Castle is just as dramatic as it 700 years long history. Set on a spectacular limestone cliff the castle dominates... the Vah River and its surroundings. As an important strategic stronghold the castle was always a symbol of feudal power in the region. It has been in ruins for more than 350 years but today it is partially restored so visitors can witness its glorious days and explore the 15th century chapel, the 14th century main tower, and the remains of the north palace.
