Situated only a few kilometres from the charming sea coast, Labin has been a place of human interaction for over two thousand years. There was... a worrying dispute between the town locals and the Romans that came to a quick end when the stronger side took the peninsula of Istra under their wing. There are many art galleries, vibrant studios and most notably the bell tower of St. Justus. This is truly a city for artists as there are over 30 professional ones currently living there. And if all of this is not enough to make you interested, then the longstanding event Labin Art Republic is sure to put you into an artistic vibe and make you want to come and gather some of this town’s infectious inspiration obviously going about.

Apart from the beautiful Adriatic Sea, exquisite Mediterranean cuisine and welcoming locals, Pula will stun its visitors with the remarkably well-preserved Roman amphitheater, which in... the summer becomes the host of international concerts, plays and films. Overlooking the sea from a hill, Vrsar is an enchanting old fishing settlement offering its visitors a captivating glimpse to the past times. It is... enough just to walk through the old town inside the fortified walls and testify the great historical heritage – from the 13th century town’s gate that is still in use, to the remains of a 4th century basilica or the 12th century Romanesque basilica of St. Mary. In close vicinity of Vrsar there is another attraction to be seen: the sculpture park of the world renowned artist Dusan Dzamonja. The monumental abstract sculptures are placed in the natural background of Dzamonja's house and studio where he lived and worked for most of his life.

Town of Porec is just one of many noteworthy sights in Istria but surely not the one to be missed. The narrow streets of Porec’s... old town are worth wandering for their own sake due to the Romanesque architecture, Venetian Gothic palaces and well preserved stone houses. The city main symbol is the 6th century Euphrasian Basilica where visitors can see a very interesting exhibition about the history of the church throughout the centuries, with beautiful mosaics and wooden sculptures.

Pazin
Croatia

Its position at the very centre of the Istrian peninsula makes Pazin easily accessible from the well-known tourist centers in Istria. The most impeccable image... of Pazin is perhaps that of its medieval castle rising above the 100 meters deep Pazin abyss. This chasm was the inspiration for Jules Verne’s “Mathias Sandorf” novel, hence today visitors can enjoy in the interactive show Escape from the Castle on conspirator Mathias Sandorf. This show provides an interesting insight into the past of this building. The castle is home to the Istrian Ethnographic Museum displaying 7500 ethnographic artifacts of textile, agricultural tools and objects of everyday life in Istrian villages.
