Places you can visit along the way

Quality photo of Civita di Bagnoregio - Italy

Civita di Bagnoregio
Italy

105 min

The one thing that makes this town so uniquely striking and so tragic at the same time is its location. Sitting on the top of... a volcanic stone which is slowly eroding and shrinking has earned this town an eerie nickname “The Dying Town”. It is such a misfortune for a town of long history that started 2500 years ago. Due to the isolated location (the town is reachable only by crossing a narrow pedestrian bridge), this ancient town hasn’t changed much. There is an entrance fee but once inside visitors get to admire diverse styles of architecture, a beautiful Duomo, an elegant Bishop Palace and the surreal landscape surrounding it.

Ferrara
Italy

105 min

Whether you are a fast-track traveler or slow-paced sightseeing admirer, there is an endless list of things you will love about Ferrara. Its architecture is... a unique mix of medieval and renaissance styles and its cobblestone streets are dotted with museums, art galleries, charming shops and cafes. Castello Estense is the most notable monument of Ferrara and today a part of it is used as government offices but many castle rooms, including dungeons and prison cells, are open for viewing. The city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and while wondering these streets you will be astonished by the 12th century glorious cathedral.

Quality photo of Montepulciano - Italy

Montepulciano
Italy

90 min

Montepulciano stands on a sloping and narrow limestone edge overlooking the Val di Chiana and val d’Orcia. Such a location provides the city with dazzling... views of the typical Tuscan countryside. But the panorama is not the finest feature of Montepulciano. Rather, it is just one of many Montepulciano’s greatnesses. It has one of the most intact historic centers of any Italian town. The fact that no major building work has been done within these city walls since 1580 proves how well it is preserved. On the beautiful Piazza Grande you can admire the Town Hal, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and Palazzo Tarugi, completely covered in travertine. Just a heads up – the city can get quite crowded because it became particularly famous after the film Twilight, sequel New Moon, was filmed here.

Florence is not only the crown jewel of Tuscany but it is also one of world’s greatest history and art cities. A preferred weekend getaway... for many Europeans, Florence seduces every visitor, whether you are a first-time stop-by traveler or a repeat visitor who just can’t get enough of this allure. It boasts amazing artwork and architecture, churches, museums and monuments. The most popular and important sites in Florence are Il Duomo - Florence’s cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Accademia. But it also has a vibrant social scene full of quirky shops and quality crafts, restaurants, cafes and famous Italian pastry shops. You can’t leave Florence without trying Italian gelato and the best way to enjoy it is to sit near the Arno River, while admiring the Ponte Vecchio.
