Ljubljana is a worthwhile shorter or longer stop on any trip through Slovenia. If, on the other hand, you have some time to spare do explore the city more thoroughly as it offers an abundance of theaters, museums, and galleries; walk along the River Ljubljanica Canal; take Funicular to Ljubljana Castle and relax in the Tivoli Park. Or any other park for that matter because, don’t forget, - Ljubljana was awarded the “Green Capital of Europe” in 2016.

Berchtesgaden – Eagles Nest
Germany

Berchtesgaden Eagles Nest is one of the most interesting remnants from WWII in Germany. It was Hitler’s mountain retreat, a present for his 50th birthday... given to him by the Nazi Party. This chalet stands high above the town, perched on a sheer rock and when weather permits the views of Berchtesgaden area, including the Konigssee and Salzburg surroundings, are incredible. This historic building is a reminder of one man’s crimes against humanity. The only way to access the Eagle’s Nest is via bus and don’t forget that it is open only in summer, from mid May to October, but please check their opening hours at: http://www.berchtesgaden.de/en/eagles-nest

Quality photo of Lake Bled - Slovenia

Lake Bled
Slovenia

105 min

The glacial lake Bled is often ranked among the top 10 most beautiful lakes in the world, and certainly one of the most divine tourist... attractions in Slovenia. Its emerald-green waters, the high peaks of the Julian Alps in the background, and the tiny island with the 17th century Baroque church and a small museum in the middle of the lake, look as if stolen from a fairy tale picture. The island can be reached in traditional wooden boats – pletnas, operated by standing rowers. The lake is warmed by mild thermal springs for which swimming is possible even in autumn. Walking trail around the lake is 6 kilometers long and can be completed in an hour but if you have time to spear, do visit the Bled Castle from where you will have the most beautiful view of the lake. The castle houses a museum, a wine cellar, a castle smithy, and a restaurant.
