Although it’s not as famous tourist destination as Paris or Rome, Zagreb has its charm that will win you over. The increasing number of visitors... each year verifies this. You will want to slow down in Zagreb. Adjust your pace to city’s laid back life. Walk the streets of its Upper Town with historical monuments and medieval architecture, explore the charming markets, learn about its culture and history in numerous museums (did you know that Zagreb has more museums per square foot than any other city in the world?) or even enjoy a show in one of more than 20 theaters. One thing is sure, take your time in Zagreb and you won’t be disappointed.

First it had a very... important role in defending the town from the Hungarians, but afterwards the castle was conquered by the Turks and finally the Austrians burnt the castle down on two occasions - in 1697 and again in 1717. The castle is today completely open to the public and offers some great 360 degrees views of the city.

Vranduk was built in the Middle Ages on a rock above the gorge and overlooking the Bosnia River. It was an occasional seat of Bosnian... kings. The fortress has mostly retained its original shape apart from the mosque which was built in the 15th century, after the Turks conquered the city. Vranduk provides an authentic insight in Bosnian history especially through the artifacts kept in the museum set up in the great tower.

Many things about Opatija are impressive. First is its long tourist tradition as a health resort that dates back to mid-19th century and the first... hotel ever built on Adriatic was in Opatija in 1884. All grand spa hotels in Opatija reflect its glorious days during the Austro-Hungarian Empire when it served as the most elegant seaside resort. Then it’s its 12 kilometers long promenade that was built along cost of Volosko, Opatija and Lovran. Opatija is also full of gorgeous parks and green areas perfect for relaxing. And finally, the numerous cultural and entertaining events all year round make Opatija a top spot destination.

On a cliff of an almost vertical hill, accessible only by one, side stands the Castle of Tesanj. There had been a fortification on this... spot already in Roman times, but the current appearance originates from the 15th century. During the course of time, the castle has survived many wars and conquerors and to this day it is well preserved.
