Nestled between the mountains of Tara and Zlatibor lies the Mokra Gora Nature Park and its turbulent landscape is the eternal source of inspiration and... serenity. Steep valleys and the gorges of the rivers Beli Rzav, Crni Rzav and Kamicka Reka are in beautiful harmony with numerous peaks and passes. The highlight of this nature park is Drvengrad, an enchanting ethnic village created by Serbian film director Emir Kusturica for his movie “Life Is a Miracle”. Another attraction not to be missed is the train ride on the Sargan Eight, a 12km part of the narrow-gauge heritage railway.

Ostrog Monastery is located on an almost vertical cliff and constructed within two large caves in a way that it seems almost like growing out... from the magnificent mountain. It was founded in 1665 by Vasilije, the Metropolitan Bishop of Herzegovina. This Serbian Orthodox church actually consists of Lower and Upper Monasteries, with the first one being located 2 km below the main shrine i.e. the Upper Monastery. Although this pilgrimage site attracts a great multitude of visitors every year, it still remains an utterly affecting place that is widely believed to have miraculous powers.

This magnificent five-dome church was built between 1910 and 1930, by King Peter I. The exterior of this temple, as beautiful as it is, does... not even come close to its exceptional interior. Inside, the Murano glass mosaics are made up of 40 million pieces of glass in 15 thousand different shades of color which create an absolute jaw-dropping spectacle. Below the central dome is the huge, three-ton bronze chandelier that symbolizes the loss of the Serbian Empire in the Battle of Kosovo. The ground floor of the church hosts the remains of two royals: the founder of the dynastic family—Karađorđe—and the church's creator, King Peter I.
