Furthermore, the WWII happened with all its horrors. But the city survived. And just before becoming a sad and dreadful city, some artists brought street art to the grey facades and empty walls. And a number of other impressive urban regeneration projects have given the city a new zeal. The city is definitely worth more thorough exploration.

What sets apart Klodawa Salt Mine from many other mines open to public is that this is still an active mine where you can see,... first hand, how the salt is mined. It is, therefore, the deepest salt operating mine open for tourist in the world. The mine is 26 km long and 4 km wide and it is characterized by Klodawa’s pink and blue salt which creates spectacular caverns. The designated tourist trail goes between 600 m and 750 m below ground and the tour lasts about two and a half hours.

The art gallery inside Rogalin Palace displays the Raczynski family history, since they are the founders and the last owners of this outstanding 18th century... palace. Special focus lies on Edward Raczynski, the last Polish president in exile. The permanent exhibition contains some of top tier Polish painters including several fine works by Wyspianski as well as the foreign artists like Paul Delaroche, Claude Monet, and Jan Matejko. The palace is surrounded by neatly kept French style parks that are free to wander round. These gardens are also renowned for their oak trees, some over 1000 years old.
