These unique buildings are a must visit site in Poland. Churches of Peace were built in Poland following the so called Peace of Westphalia in... 1648. According this treaty, protestant churches could only be built outside the town, they had to be constructed entirely from wood, and finished within one year. Out of three protestant churches that were built in 17th century, only the churches in Swidnica and Jawor remained preserved, the third one in Glogow had burned down in 1758. These large churches with capacity of 5500 people have interiors richly decorated in unique frescoes and Baroque-style paintings. Both of the churches are completely authentic, firmly defying the course of centuries despite the fact they are built without nails, cement, stone and iron.
