Wits... its rich cultural and leisure offer as well as the abundant high-end shopping facilities, it is a perfect day-trip from Vienna. Baden bei Wien
Austria

Baden bei Wien is simply inviting to relax and unwind with its laid back feel in a lovely small town full of beautiful gardens and... historic buildings. The town is surrounded with stunning nature consisting of lush green hills, meadows and vineyards so a short hike would also be a good idea. But if you are looking for some proper relaxation than enjoy the spas and outdoor pools with the sulfurous springs. Once you are well rested, head for the big casino built back in 1934 (just make sure to bring appropriate attire) and try your luck. Other points of interest include the Beethoven House and a modern art museum honoring the works by Arnulf Rainer.

Quality photo of Franzensburg - Austria

Franzensburg
Austria

135 min

Unlike other castles, Franzensburg does not dominate its surroundings from hilltop, but it stands in the middle of a lake, thus to access it one... must take a short ferry ride. Franzensburg got its name from its creator, the Emperor Franz II, who in fact built this marvelous edifice as an imitation of medieval castle. Hard to believe, because it seems truly authentic with its dungeon, chapel and coronation room, which all can be viewed. This is all owing to the fact that original medieval architectural features, that today ornate the castle, were collected from monasteries and churches, palaces and town halls throughout the Empire.
