When seeing this items, and especially the real cattle wagon that was used to deport Jews to the Auschwitz concentration camp, visitors are remembered of the horrors that countless victims had to experience in horrendous places such as the Sered labor camp.

Beckov Castle
Slovakia

60 min

Standing proudly on a steep 50 m tall rock, Beckov Castle is remarkably accompanying its natural setting. Even though the monument has fallen into ruin... today it is still frequently visited by tourists as it offers an important insight into the history of the castle and the entire region. It is equally interesting for all ages – children will love the puppet show in the lower castle grounds and for the adults there are few exhibits of defensive weapons like full-size medieval catapults and cannons. The castle features a cafe, a museum and a souvenir shop. No guided tour is needed as visitors receive a nice and informative pamphlet in English.

Strecno Castle
Slovakia

The location of the Strecno Castle is just as dramatic as it 700 years long history. Set on a spectacular limestone cliff the castle dominates... the Vah River and its surroundings. As an important strategic stronghold the castle was always a symbol of feudal power in the region. It has been in ruins for more than 350 years but today it is partially restored so visitors can witness its glorious days and explore the 15th century chapel, the 14th century main tower, and the remains of the north palace. The castle is situated on the top of 103 meters tall rock so be prepared for a moderately steep walk up the hill. Please note that the castle is closed from December to March.
