Zbrasov caves are a remarkable cave system that was created by activities of atmospheric water and deep spring of warm mineral water. When visiting this... caves there’s no need to dress warmly as there is a permanent comfortable all-year-round temperature of 14°C. The caves are filled with magnificent ornamentation – aragonite, raft stalagmites and sinter spherical coating. Visitors can also marvel the spectacular gas “lakes” of carbon dioxide that are located in the bottom levels of the caves. A guided tour is required to see the caves and it lasts approximately an hour, covering 375 meters of the caves.

Lidice Memorial keeps a lasting memory of the horrendous Nazi crime. After the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, a brutal Nazi official, German army completely demolished... the town, 173 men were taken to the center of town and shot dead, women and most of the children were shipped off to concentration camps. On the place of the original village today stands the memorial with a very powerful sculpture dedicated to the 82 children of Lidice while the new village was built approximately 150 meters away.

Sazava Monastery had a very dynamic history, being continuously destroyed and reconstructed. It was originally built in the 11th century, but during the Hussite War... in 15th century it was burnt down. Revived again in 16th century and rebuilt in the Baroque style in 17th century, it was eventually closed down by Emperor Josef II. After being abolished in the 19th century, the monastery was remodeled to a Pseudo-Renaissance chateau. Today, the former monastery is a significant medieval center of Slavic culture and literature and in its library visitors can see medieval manuscripts written in Old Slavonic, Latin and Czech.
