Dating from the 15th century, this monumental castle is a fine example of the Renaissance architecture in Moravia. Namest nad Oslavou Castle was originally built... on the ruins of a 13th century fortress by the Moravian lords of Zierotin and to this day is preserved almost unchanged. The walk through the history is available through the tour that takes visitors in the castle rooms furnished with historical furniture and decorated with precious paintings and tapestries. Although the castle chapel is notable for its design, it is the library that is the most unique part with a rich selection of books and a beautifully frescoed barrel ceiling. There is another tour available, one that takes visitors to the private apartments of Haugwitz family, who owned it in the 19th and 20th century.

Standing proudly on a steep 50 m tall rock, Beckov Castle is remarkably accompanying its natural setting. Even though the monument has fallen into ruin... today it is still frequently visited by tourists as it offers an important insight into the history of the castle and the entire region. It is equally interesting for all ages – children will love the puppet show in the lower castle grounds and for the adults there are few exhibits of defensive weapons like full-size medieval catapults and cannons. Being built as a copy of an Italian villa in Baroque style, Buchlovice Castle is considered as one of the most prominent noble seats in... the Czech Republic. The complex includes two separate buildings, the ceremonial Lower Chateau, and the Upper Chateau used for service purposes. Visitors of Buchlovice Castle can explore the rooms and chambers with their rich stucco and elaborately painted ceilings. The surrounding gardens were originally designed in Italian style but in the first half of the 19th century the garden was expanded and remodeled in new, English design with interesting species of trees, peacocks, streams and bridges.

The castle is huge indeed and houses many interesting exhibits including an armory, library, Gothic and Renaissance rooms, natural science collection but what’s most intriguing is an Egyptology collection so visitors will also see an Egyptian mummy. Sazava Monastery had a very dynamic history, being continuously destroyed and reconstructed. It was originally built in the 11th century, but during the Hussite War... in 15th century it was burnt down. Revived again in 16th century and rebuilt in the Baroque style in 17th century, it was eventually closed down by Emperor Josef II. After being abolished in the 19th century, the monastery was remodeled to a Pseudo-Renaissance chateau. Today, the former monastery is a significant medieval center of Slavic culture and literature and in its library visitors can see medieval manuscripts written in Old Slavonic, Latin and Czech.

The history of the astounding Cesky Sternberk Castle begins in 1241 when the noble family Sternbergs constructed it on a cliff top above the river... Sazava.
