Places you can visit along the way

Quality photo of Lugano - Switzerland

Lugano
Switzerland

105 min

Situated on the northern shores of Lake Lugano, with palm trees and mild climate, Lugano seems more like a Mediterranean town that in its background... has snow capped mountains. Quite fascinating, don’t you think? But that’s not all Lugano has to offer to its visitors. You will find a wealth of history and art and some truly amazing architecture of Italian style squares, arcades and villas. Some of the city’s highlights are the 16th century Church of Santa Maria degli Angioli, San Lorenzo Cathedral and Museo Cantonale d'Arte.

Quality photo of Bellinzona - Switzerland

Bellinzona
Switzerland

135 min

A visit to Bellinzona provides a wonderful opportunity to understand the life of the nobility who lived here centuries ago. Along its picturesque alleys and... squares stand richly decorated patrician houses, beautiful churches and theaters. Yet, the most impressive sight of Ballinzona is the city’s triple fortification that was built first by the Romans and then extended in the Middle Ages by the Dukes of Lombardy. The oldest and mightiest castle of this fortification is the Castelgrande from where one may enjoy breathtaking views of the Old Town and surrounding area.

Quality photo of Vaduz - Liechtenstein

Vaduz
Liechtenstein

135 min

A dazzling mix of historical and modern is just one of the features that make Vaduz so attractive. In the capital of Liechtenstein, one can... soak in contemporary art in the English Building Art Space and the Liechtenstein Museum of Fine Arts, whereas for the admirers of classic art, there are the Vaduz Castle constructed in 12th century and the parish church St. Florin. But for a truly royal spin, it is recommended to visit The Treasure Chamber of the Principality of Liechtenstein and take a tour and tasting at the Prince’s winery.

Quality photo of Chur - Switzerland

Chur
Switzerland

75 min

With the history of more than 5000 years, Chur is the oldest town in Switzerland. Its well preserved Old Town showcasing traditional Swiss architecture, beautiful... squares and cobbled streets, best reflects this long history which included different rulers –the Romans, Ostrogoths, Francs, Magyars, Saracens, and the Holy Roman Empire. The symbol of the city is its Cathedral with somewhat simple exterior but most impressive interiors. Some parts of Chur’s Cathedral are from the 5th century but most of the structure dates to the 12th century. In the center you’ll find the Bundner Kunstmuseum with impressive collection of artworks.

Quality photo of Schattenburg Castle - Austria

Schattenburg Castle
Austria

90 min

The history of this beautiful castle goes way back to the 12th century when it was built by the Earls of Montfort and it remained... in their possession for 200 years. The castle then changed ownership to the mighty Habsburg family. In 1825, the state bought the castle and transformed it into a museum. The museum is divided into several different themed rooms over 3 floors that have been completely restored. Besides the museum, which exhibits everything from historical furniture to period dresses to weapons, the castle features also a restaurant for which advance reservations are recommended.
