Ostrog Monastery is located on an almost vertical cliff and constructed within two large caves in a way that it seems almost like growing out... from the magnificent mountain. It was founded in 1665 by Vasilije, the Metropolitan Bishop of Herzegovina. This Serbian Orthodox church actually consists of Lower and Upper Monasteries, with the first one being located 2 km below the main shrine i.e. the Upper Monastery.
