About Visegrad
Visegrad is a small town best known for the absolutely enchanting Mehmed Pasa SokolovićcBridge. This bridge was constructed during the Ottoman Empire occupation in the 1570s by the order of Grand Vizier Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic. The bridge became famous thanks to the Yugoslav writer Ivo Andric and his novel “The Bridge Over The Drina”. Andric, who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1961, was of great importance for Visegrad. Near the bridge there is a tourist site called Andric Grad (Andric's Town) that is actually a tourist, cultural, administrative and educational complex.
