About Veltrusy Castle
When built, the charming Veltrusy Castle was intended to be a summer palace so great attention was paid to the construction of a beautiful place that would provide outmost relaxing environment. That’s why today its gardens are a famous location for picnics and pleasant strolls among various lawn decorations and garden edifices, including an Egyptian bridge and a Gothic watermill. The star-shaped structure of the castle and its interiors are equally enchanting and during the tour visitors can admire some unique features like the dome-topped rotunda, the monumental staircase frescoes in the sala terrena depicting hunting scenes and scenes from the Commedia dell’Arte. Visitors are reminded that the castle is closed on Mondays.
