About Dinkelsbuhl
A few centuries after it was built, Dinkelsbuhl was further fortified and proclaimed a Free Imperial City. In the eve of impending doom it surrendered to the Swedish and avoided its destruction. Every July, the town remembers their almost miraculous salvation which allowed them to keep their medieval heritage. Today, it is one of the three last German towns to still have original protective walls. The Old Town is filled with colorful reminders of the glorious past, with the Church of St. George and its six altars to complete your historic journey.
