About Schloss Philippsruhe
This German castle owes its elegance and class to the French influence and the costly style of Louis XIV. In a tragic twist of fate, Philippsruhe’s interior was almost completely removed during the Second World War only to be vastly damaged in Fulda. Only the stunning walls and the gilded entrance gate remained intact. Later in the century a devastating fire made its mark and photos had to be used for reconstruction. Today it is a home to no less than three museums – the history and treasury of the royal family, paper screen-play museum and a modern art gallery. No surprise its English style courtyard makes a memorable wedding sight.
