Specific to their region of Balkan, Stećci are monumental stones dating back to the middle ages used to commemorate Christian burial sites. Besides being a terrific example of the people’s spirituality, they are also important for their inter-confessionality for they were practised by all three medieval Christian societies. Today, the 49 stones provide a unique insight into the cultural diversity of the time and are a priceless part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
