About Baranow Sandomierski Castle
Dating back to the 16th century Baranow Sandomierski Castle is one of the most impressive examples of secular Renaissance architecture in Poland. Although it was destroyed twice by fire and badly damaged during the Second World War, it was thoroughly renovated during 15 years and beautifully restored to its former glory. The castle features a museum that is divided in two parts: the first floor showcases paintings of the Italian school and lavish furnishings, while in the basement there are archaeological and geological exhibits, including mammoth bones, and a human skeleton from the Bronze Age.
