About Lipowiec Castle
Strict and straight lines of this medieval castle with only small window openings give the ruins an eerie air and it comes as no surprise that it was used as a prison in late 15th century. Before that, from 13th to 15th century this was a noble residence belonging to the bishop of Krakow. In the coming centuries it was severely damaged several times so it was finally abandoned in 1800. Visitors can freely explore the grounds, halls and tower.
