About Nis
Nis, the third largest city in Serbia and one of the oldest cities in Europe, whose history dates back to 5,000 BC, has so much to offer. From historical traces of Romans and Ottomans who left behind the gruesome Skull Tower, to the spectacular scenery and exquisite gastronomy, the town has something to stimulate the senses of every visitor. From the more recent history there is the Red Cross concentration camp from the WWII where approximately 30 000 people lost their lives. Today its barracks are transformed into a museum which exhibits watch towers, skulls and various personal objects but visitors can also see the isolation cells with floors covered with barbed wire so prisoners could not lie down.
