About Altenburg Abbey
Master-builder Joseph Munggenast designed and managed the construction of the abbey along with the breathtaking Rococo library. The library is not so much known for its collection of books but rather for absorbing frescoes painted by Paul Troger. Altenburg Abbey was built on the ruins of a medieval monastery and much of it has been excavated for visitors to admire the differences between the two. Visiting Altenburg Abby is definitely a precious experience to know better the traditions of these epochs and places.
