About Aosta
Aosta, the capital of the Valle d’Aosta, not only has some amazing Roman ruins, but these ruins have been incorporated into the city and many buildings are built on Roman foundations. Sights not to be missed in Aosta are Amphitheater which could hold up to 20,000 people; Roman Bridge, a perfectly preserved bridge which is still used today even though the river no longer runs under it; and Augustus' Arch built in 25 BC to mark Rome's victory over the Celtic Salassi tribe.
