About Thun Castle
Thun Castle was the seat of the Thun family since the 13th century until the 1992 when it was bought by the government. It is a beautiful medieval castle fully restored and furnished with luxury furniture. Given that it was also a military fortress, it features a sophisticated defensive system, strong towers, and a drawbridge. The five floors of the castle now house a historical museum with interesting information about the history of the castle and the town of Thun during the Middle Ages. Not to be missed inside the castle are the Bishop's room, the Room of the Dead, the Knights Hall, and the castle's chapel with German-school frescoes from the 15th century.
