About Zdiar
Anyone trying to escape the frenetic and demanding life of big cities should wind down for a while at Zdiar. It is a relaxed and laid back little village, perfect for hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. It is equally charming covered in snow or in full summer blossom. The village was founded at the beginning of the 17th century when it had 794 inhabitants, mostly farmers, shepherds, and miners. Today it counts merely 1300 residents that live in the traditional wooden homes and are also involved in tourism. For a piece of culture and history you should visit the folk museum with traditional folk costumes and for a more special experience you may also participate in traditional wedding ceremony wearing the real folk costume.
