About Buchenwald Memorial
Buchenwald concentration camp was established in 1937 and eventually became the largest concentration camp in Germany. The memorial site is a synonym of the atrocities committed by the Nazis during the WWII. The whole complex is quite large comprising of two actual original buildings including the crematorium and the prison, the footprints of all the buildings that stood at the camp, memorial areas and three museum/exhibition areas. There are personal stories and artifacts on display so visitors can actually touch and feel the worst of mankind. This site is extremely moving and filled with sober atmosphere. Although is not an easy place to visit but surely a must do for so many reasons, the remembrance of the unspeakable crimes should never be forgotten.
