About Gorsium Archaeological Park
Gorsium Archaeological Park is located just 5 kilometers away from the motorway M7, in a former vineyard. Roman ruins were found in 1958 and what was first thought to be just an early Christian basilica later proved to be the remains of a whole ancient Roman settlement with the town walls and gates, a series of shops, a number of private estates, streets bordered with colonnades, a forum, temples, and even the city’s graveyard. This open-air museum features also a museum building where the town’s bronze statues and pottery are exhibited.
