About Kisnana Castle
One of the most beautiful remains of late-Medieval noble residences in Hungary is the romantic Kisnana castle. Originally built as a small family parish in the 11th or 12th centuries, it was remodeled in the following centuries, but unfortunately destroyed by the Turks in 1543. The castle was in ruins until the mid-20th century when a military practice field was established here. Finally, after the systematic archaeological excavations between 1962 and 1966, the restoration of the site was conducted so today the castle walls are fortified and the Old Tower with exhibition rooms is refurbished. The visitors can learn all about the interesting castle history by watching a 10-minute, 3D movie screened every hour.
