About Pecs
Pecs is a city worthy of exploration during your travels through Hungary. Its history starts more than 2000 years ago, when it was first settled by the Celts. The Necropolis of Sopianae, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest Early Christian burial chamber found outside Italy with incredible murals that depict Christian themes. Today Pecs is home to the world-famous Zsolnay ceramics and the largest Turkish ruins in Hungary. The great influence of the Turks is reflected also in the iconic Gazi Kasim Mosque. Pecs is commonly associated with great wines and you can sample their famous Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Fran, and Merlot in one of many city’s bars and restaurants.
