About Kornik Castle
Originating from the well-known Gorka family, this castle was first envisioned as a defensive structure, soon to be given a makeover in then more fashionable Renaissance style. The rich owners were once again caught up with their contemporary architecture and remodeled the castle, this time making it a Baroque residence and finally settling on a neo-Gothic appearance that has sustained even to this day. There is the Kornik Library of the Polish Academy of Science, along with a museum of rather diverse and always intriguing objects. The most notable feature is the Moor Room heavily influenced by the Spanish. Please bring slippers as the visitors are required to be careful in order to preserve the wooden floors.
