About Lucenec Synagogue
Lucenec Synagogue is an impressive historical building, a remnant honoring the Jewish community in this city. Before the WWII 2,200 Jews lived in Lucenec and due to this big community the city featured 5 synagogues. Less than 100 Jews survived the war in Lucenec, and today only 14 live here still. The town’s last synagogue, built in 1926, was disused for many years and only recently completely renovated to become a multifunctional cultural center. The synagogue is home to a permanent exhibition displaying the Jewish cultural heritage in the town and informative guided tours are provided but you are advised to check the opening hours at http://www.lukus.sk/synagoga/
