About Hallwyl Castle
The Hallwyl Castle was constructed in the 11th century by a lower noble family of the same name which used the next 800 years to distinguish themselves on the Swiss battlefields, in science, politics as well as business. In the 15th century the castle met its tragic obstruction in a form of Bernese troops but luckily it was quickly rebuilt and made even greater than it was before. Today visitors can emerge themselves in the structure’s rich history, enchanting artwork and an always fine cuisine. Please note that the castle is closed for the winter.
