About Risan Mosaic
As the oldest Illyrian city in the bay of Kotor, Risan only developed further when falling under the Roman thumb. Their naval and military preoccupation provided the city with prosperous opportunities and riches. Even though few, its citizens built many lush manors. Early years of the previous century provided us with rediscovered foundations and the city being listed as a cultural monument. While the walls may have disappeared, the magnificent mosaics still stand to this day, accompanied with floors of geometric patterns and a bedroom with a rare depiction of Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep.
