About Bojnice Castle Museum
This delightful castle, that is today one of the most visited castles in Slovakia, started as a wooden fort in 1013. Over the centuries, it was renovated and expanded to imitate the romantic French castles with steep roofs, a chapel and peaked towers. The interior of the castle is filled with the lavish and elegant collection of furniture, ornaments and paintings from the different time periods. One of the oldest attractions of the Bojnice castle is the “King Matthias Linden Tree” that is 700 years old and the most valuable item of national importance is the Late-Gothic altar. You can easily book a guided tour which is available in both English and Slovakian language. The castle grounds open to public and free of charge are castle’s majestic exterior, the gardens with the lovely stalls selling souvenirs and local products.
