About Museum of Orava Village
If you would like to experience the traditional Slovak way of living, than be sure to visit the Museum of Orava Village, an open-air museum containing over 50 folk buildings. Its five different sections represent Orava’s regions – Lower Orava with large and pretentious structures around the Market Place; Mill features a water mill, sawmill and fulling mill; Zamagurie Region has houses and farmsteads of rich and medium rich farmers; Goral Settlement represents the poorest part of Orava and Zabrez is characterized by the 15th century, Late-Gothic wooden church. The constructions in the museum are mostly originals brought in from different locations in Orava and replicas are made for those which could not be bought or transported here. Orava Village Museum is open to visitors year round and the museum regularly organizes various interesting programs during summer and winter.
