About Pazin
Its position at the very centre of the Istrian peninsula makes Pazin easily accessible from the well-known tourist centers in Istria. The most impeccable image of Pazin is perhaps that of its medieval castle rising above the 100 meters deep Pazin abyss. This chasm was the inspiration for Jules Verne’s “Mathias Sandorf” novel, hence today visitors can enjoy in the interactive show Escape from the Castle on conspirator Mathias Sandorf. This show provides an interesting insight into the past of this building. The castle is home to the Istrian Ethnographic Museum displaying 7500 ethnographic artifacts of textile, agricultural tools and objects of everyday life in Istrian villages.
